Ankerholz & Smith represents people throughout Kansas and Missouri who have been injured in accidents at work and need to file workers' compensation claims. We are prepared to build an effective strategy against any method or tactic that the insurance company may try to use in denying a claim, and we have a proven track helping our clients receive the benefits they deserve.
Recent Changes in the Law
Kansas recently made many changes to it's workers' compensation law, which came into effect on July 1, 2011. Like Missouri, Kansas now uses the term "prevailing factor" in establishing the extent of the injury. This effectively means that pre-existing injuries cannot be a major factor in establishing the cause of the new injury. These changes were prompted by the insurance industry and effectively make it more difficult for injured workers to prove their claim. In some instances, it can even cost someone his or her claim.
We are licensed to practice in both Missouri and Kansas and focus our entire practice on helping people who have been injured or wronged by another party. We have successfully filed claims against the following insurance companies, among many others:
- Travelers Insurance
- Liberty Mutual
- State Farm
- American Family Insurance
